Shawn Michaels Was Surprised By McKenzie Mitchell’s WWE Release, Says She Will Always Be A Part Of The NXT Family

Former NXT interviewer McKenzie Mitchell was released by WWE last week, and her departure came as a surprise to many, including WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels. During a recent NXT Deadline media call, Michaels expressed his shock at Mitchell’s release and assured fans that she will always be a part of the NXT family.

Michaels stated, “No, I don’t. McKenzie is always going to be a part of the NXT family. It obviously took me by surprise as well, my understanding is that there are some areas where we have overlapping jobs and there were going to be changes. There are a lot of things that go on in this company that are way above me, and this was obviously one of them. Like we always say, the door is always open in the WWE, I think that, in my opinion, McKenzie will always be a part of the NXT family and it doesn’t mean that we can’t revisit that relationship down the road. Obviously, it’s a loss to us in NXT, but the machine, as always, has to continue to roll on and we will obviously do that and miss her greatly because everybody absolutely loves and adores McKenzie.”

Michaels’ comments reflect the sentiment shared by many within the NXT community, as Mitchell was well-liked and respected by her colleagues. While her release may have come as a surprise, it seems that there may have been organizational changes that led to her departure.

In addition to discussing Mitchell’s release, Michaels also addressed the decision to pull Wes Lee from the upcoming NXT Deadline event. Lee suffered a back injury, and as a result, Dragon Lee will be stepping in to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship.

This last-minute change was confirmed by Michaels during the media call, and fans can find more details about this switch here.

As always, news like this spreads quickly within the wrestling community, and fans have been expressing their support for Mitchell and their disappointment over her release. Many hope that she will find success in her future endeavors and potentially return to WWE in the future.
