Windsor, ON – IMPACT Wrestling is gearing up for an action-packed weekend as they present Slammiversary, one of their premier events of the year. To kick off the weekend, the city of Windsor issued an official proclamation ceremony and press conference, which took place on Thursday, July 13, at Craft Heads Brewing Co. in downtown Windsor.
The event was attended by IMPACT Wrestling President Scott D’Amore, IMPACT Wrestling World Champion Alex Shelley, IMPACT X Division Champion Chris Sabin, and other IMPACT Wrestlers. The press conference served as a platform for the wrestlers to share their excitement about the upcoming pay-per-view event.
“I’m excited to get back into the ring for a pay-per-view match, my first in 17 years – and there’s no better place to do it than in my hometown, Windsor,” said Scott D’Amore. “I have 31 years of pro wrestling experience, and I plan to show Bully Ray and Deaner what I can do in the ring on Saturday night.”
D’Amore will be competing in a tag team match against Bully Ray and Deaner. However, the health of D’Amore’s tag team partner, PCO, is in question after a vicious attack by Bully Ray and Steve Maclin.
Adding to the excitement, Darren McCarty, a 4-time Stanley Cup champion for the Detroit Red Wings, will be the Special Enforcer for the Special Grudge Match with D’Amore on Saturday night. McCarty will also be wrestling in a tag team match on Sunday.
Slammiversary will take place at the St. Clair College Sportsplex in Windsor on Saturday and Sunday, July 15-16. The event will be broadcast live around the world on pay-per-view, starting at 8 p.m. ET. Fans can also catch the Countdown to Slammiversary show, which will be streaming live and free at 7:30 p.m. ET on YouTube, IMPACT Plus, and FITE.
