Dibiase found himself transitioning from an in-ring performer to a commentator and manager, which led to a confrontation with Bischoff.
During their conversation, Dibiase expressed his frustration with Bischoff’s decision-making, stating that he was essentially doing the job that he was initially hired to do. Dibiase made it clear that he was not interested in being a bystander or a “belt bearer” for Hogan, and ultimately decided to leave the company.
Despite his disagreements with Bischoff, Dibiase acknowledged that he harbored no personal animosity towards him. He recognized that Bischoff was thrust into a position of power without prior experience in the wrestling industry. Dibiase believes that Bischoff’s appointment as the head of WCW may have been influenced by external factors, such as TBS.
