Sellout crowd sees more big action

The Road to Dontaku has nearly reached its conclusion, and Kumamoto will see a sellout crowd countdown to the big event on Sunday night.

LIVE in English on NJPW World (English to follow on demand)

Main event Elimination Match: Just Five Guys (SANADA, Taichi, DOUKI & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) vs Los Ingobernables De Japon (Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi, Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI)

Four on four elimination tag team action will see Just Five Guys and LIJ collide in our main event. A lot of fallout from Hiromu and Kanemaru’s thriller over the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship Thursday in Hiroshima, and the Takagi Style Triad between Taichi and Shingo over the KOPW 2023 title not 24 hours earlier in Kagoshima. Yet the biggest story will be focused on the knee of the Time Bomb, relentlessly targeted by the Heel Master in Hiroshima and outting the Time Bomb at a severe deficit in an already difficult challenge for Hiromu to IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA Wednesday at Wrestling Dontaku. Can Takahashi stay fresh before taking on the fresh faced new champ in his first defence?

6th Match: Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano, Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma vs Minoru Suzuki, El Desperado, Ren Narita, Shota Umino & Oskar Leube

A wild ten man tag bout will see the Strong Style NEVER 6 Man Champions joined by Shota Umino and Oskar Leube as the take on a team led by two of the three NEVER challengers May 3 in Fukuoka. In Hiroshima on April 27, Narita angered the Rainmaker by standing high in the ring with the belt held up over Okada, but the precocious Son of Strong Style carries justified confidence, especially alongside his brutally effective teammates in El Desperado and Minoru Suzuki.

At the same time, Tomohiro Ishii was victorious over El Desperado in Wahsington DC at Capital Collision, and Okada sounds like he has finally settled on his third partner. Might this be the night where we finally find out their identity?

5th Match: Tama Tonga & Master Wato vs BULLET CLUB (David Finlay & Gedo)

Three days before Tama Tonga and David Finlay meet for the NEVER Openweight Championship, the two meet in tag team action, with Finlay and Bloody Hands Gedo making an intriguing combination. During Best of the Super Jr., Master Wato will face demanding competition from Finlay’s handpicked ‘savage’ in B Block, in the form of Clark Connors. In the meantime, Gedo will be a more than adequate replacement as far as a crash test dummy for Wato is concerned.

4th Match: Guerrillas of Destiny (Jado & Hikuleo) vs BULLET CLUB (Taiji Ishimori & KENTA)

Another tag team preview of an openweight singles championship match Wednesday, Hikuleo teams with Jado to face STRONG Openweight Champion KENTA and Taiji Ishimori. Can the powerful Hikuleo make a big statement on the path to his first singles gold, or will KENTA’s veteran wiles better even Jado’s in the opposite corner?

3rd Match: TMDK (Kosei Fujita, Shane Haste, Mikey Nicholls & Zack Sabre Jr) vs United Empire (Jeff Cobb, Kyle Fletcher, Mark Davis& Aaron Henare)

Saturday night saw the IWGP Tag Team Championships contested in Kagoshima, but Sunday, it’ll be the NJPW World TV Championship the focus of this eight man tag, and Jeff Cobb and Zack Sabre Jr. in particular. Who emerges with the upper hand as a long tour of previews approaches its conclusion?

2nd Match: Yuto Nakashima, Kevin Knight & KUSHIDA vs United Empire (Great-O-Khan, Francesco Akira & TJP)

Francesco Akira and TJP are still reeling from a shocking loss of their IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag team Championships to Kevin Knight and KUSHIDA in Hiroshima this past week, but will now look to build back and get set for Best of the Super Jr. 30 in six man action.

1st Match: Ryohei Oiwa, YOH, YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto vs HOUSE OF TORTURE (EVIL, Yujiro Takahashi, SHO & Dick Togo)

Eight man action starts us off in Kumamoto as the long feud for CHAOS and HOUSE OF TORTURE sees yet another chapter written. After some big successes for Hirooki Goto and company through his 20th anniversary tour, will H.O.T be sent packing again, or will this be the night the bad strike back?
