Mustafa Ali Apologizes to Fans for Not Being Booked for WWE Superstar Spectacle
Mustafa Ali, the son of a Pakistani father and Indian mother, has issued an apology to fans who were hoping to see him at today’s WWE Superstar Spectacle taping in India. The event featured several Indian talents, including Indus Sher, Jinder Mahal, Shanky, and WWE Hall of Famer The Great Khali, but Ali was noticeably absent.
One fan expressed their surprise at Ali’s absence, noting that he is the only Indian wrestler on the roster who did not participate in the show. Ali responded to the fan’s comment with an apology and expressed his desire to bring fans from India and Pakistan together despite the tension that exists between the two countries.
“My apologies to all the fans in India. Would have loved to perform there. With all the tension that exists between Pakistan and India, I would have loved to show that a man from both countries can bring us together,” Ali wrote on his Twitter account.
This is not the first time Ali has not worked the Superstar Spectacle event. He also did not participate in the 2021 edition of the show, which was taped in Florida and aired in India. Guru Raaj, another Indian talent, also did not work today’s event. Raaj is still on the roster but has not wrestled since November 22, 2022, when he lost to Scrypts on an episode of NXT. Raaj did compete in the 2021 Superstar Spectacle, where he faced Finn Balor in the opener and was defeated.
Since June, Ali has been working in NXT, but he recently made appearances at two main roster non-televised live events in late August, where he faced off against LA Knight. He is scheduled to challenge NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio on Saturday, September 30 at the NXT No Mercy Premium Live Event in Bakersfield, CA.
Despite not being booked for the Superstar Spectacle, Ali remains committed to his fans and hopes to have future opportunities to perform in India. His tweet expressing his apologies can be seen here.
