It’s Growing: WWE Announces Three New Matches For Backlash

Three more. We are less than a month away from Backlash and the card still has a long way to go. Coming into this week’s edition of SmackDown, there were only two matches officially set for the show. That leaves quite a bit of work to do, but a lot of that work was covered this week on SmackDown. The show has grown quite a bit, including a match you might not have seen coming.

WWE added three new matches to the Backlash card this week. First up, Rhea Ripley will be defending her SmackDown Women’s Title against Zelina Vega. Second, United States Champion Austin Theory will defend his title against Bronson Reed and Bobby Lashley. Finally Omos will face Seth Rollins. There is no word on how many more matches will be announced for Backlash, which will take place on May 7.

It should be a big match. Check out the stars in question:

Opinion: Vega vs. Ripley makes sense and Theory’s title defense ties a few stories together, but Rollins vs. Omos comes a bit out of nowhere. I don’t remember them having any significant interactions leading up to this but it certainly is something fresh for a change. Backlash is starting to come together and now we should be in for a nice show once WWE gets to Puerto Rico.
