Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes are set to face off in a standard singles match at SummerSlam, according to reports. Despite rumors of a potential stipulation being added to the match, it appears that the current plan is for it to remain a straightforward one-on-one contest.
Speculation had been swirling about the possibility of a stipulation being announced for the Lesnar vs. Rhodes rubber match, but the two competitors appeared on Monday’s episode of RAW and no stipulation was mentioned. Fightful Select has now reported that there were no plans for a stipulation, at least as of now.
While it is always possible for plans to change, sources close to both Lesnar and Rhodes have confirmed that the idea of a stipulation was never seriously considered for the match. There were rumors of a potential Dog Collar match being pitched, but it seems that the idea was quickly shot down.
The decision to keep the match as a standard singles bout was based on the question of whether or not it needed a stipulation. After careful consideration, it was agreed that the match did not require any additional stipulations to make it compelling, so the idea was not pursued any further.
