Hikuleo and SANADA Advance from A Block in G1 Climax 33

The G1 Climax 33 tournament is heating up as Hikuleo and SANADA emerge as the top two contenders from A Block. The intense battles at EDION Arena Osaka saw these eight participants push themselves to the limit.

The match between Yota Tsuji and Gabe Kidd started with a bang as Kidd attempted to catch Tsuji off guard, only to realize he was attacking Tsuji’s twin brother. Tsuji took advantage of the confusion and launched himself onto Kidd with a tope suicida. However, Tsuji’s advantage didn’t last long as Kidd delivered a devastating suplex on the floor.

Inside the ring, Tsuji and Kidd engaged in a fierce exchange of hard hits. Kidd’s trash talk accompanied his strikes, while Tsuji focused on tying his hair back and unleashing more damage. Tsuji executed a perfect Moonsault after collecting himself, while Kidd’s Moonsault missed the mark.

The match continued with both competitors showcasing their resilience. Tsuji landed a curb stomp and a Gene Blaster Spear, but Kidd countered with a precise dropkick. Tsuji baited Kidd into an open-hand strike exchange, ultimately knocking him down with a powerful headbutt. Tsuji secured the win with the Gene Blaster, securing a third-place finish in A Block.

Kaito Kiyomiya’s tournament hopes were dashed by Ren Narita in a hard-fought match. The technical showcase began with holds and exchanges, with Kiyomiya gaining the early advantage with a Dragon Screw and a figure four leg lock. Narita displayed tenacity as he pushed for a rear naked choke and attempted to transition into a Cobra Twist.

Kiyomiya relied on his leg attacks whenever he was in trouble. A pinpoint dropkick to the knee, followed by a Dragon Screw and another Figure Four, had Narita in excruciating pain. Both competitors traded signature strikes, with Kiyomiya hitting harder. Despite Narita’s resilience, Kiyomiya’s Tiger Suplex and modified Tiger Driver earned him a near victory. However, Narita countered with a Front Suplex Hold for the win.

In the main event, SANADA secured a perfect record in the block by defeating Chase Owens. Despite Owens’ relentless attacks, SANADA’s determination prevailed. A quick Shining Wizard and the Deadfall secured the victory for SANADA, making him the first wrestler since Kazuyuki Fujita in 2005 to achieve a perfect record in the G1 Climax.

The final match of the night determined the last wrestler to advance from A Block. Shota Umino faced off against Hikuleo in a high-stakes match. Umino took the initiative with quick offense, but his attempt to slam the larger Hikuleo proved challenging. However, Umino managed to execute the slam after a combination of strikes.

Hikuleo fought back with his own strikes, but Umino countered with a dropkick from the floor to the apron, followed by a slingshot DDT. Both wrestlers exchanged near falls, with Umino landing a German suplex and Hikuleo responding with a powerbomb. After multiple attempts, Hikuleo finally executed the Godsend chokeslam to secure the victory and advance to the last eight.

In the upcoming matches, SANADA will face the second-place finisher of C Block at Funabashi Arena on Thursday, August 10. Hikuleo will go head-to-head with the winner of D Block.
