Fall Brawl 1998 Review: WCW’s Epic Battle (in and out of the ring)

Welcome to the world of professional wrestling! I’m Jeff Wolfe, your go-to reporter for all things wrestling. Today, we’ll be taking a closer look at the Fall Brawl 1998 event, where WCW went to war in a series of intense matches. Let’s dive right in!

In this event, WCW presented a unique twist on the classic WarGames match. Instead of traditional teams, there were three teams of three men each, but only one individual could win. The winner would go on to face Goldberg for the title at Halloween Havoc. The anticipation was high as fans eagerly awaited the action.

The night started off with a match between Davey Boy Smith and Jim Neidhart against Alex Wright and Disco Inferno. While this match wasn’t the most exciting, it set the stage for what was to come. Neidhart and Smith emerged victorious, but the real highlight of the night was yet to come.

Next up was a match for the TV Title and WCW World Title between Chris Jericho and Goldberg. However, fans were disappointed to find out that the real Goldberg was not in attendance, but rather an impersonator. Despite the initial disappointment, Jericho put on a show and won the match with his signature Liontamer move.

The event continued with a match between Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner. This match had been building up for seven months, and fans were excited to finally see the brothers face off. However, the match ended abruptly due to an injury to Buff Bagwell, leaving the crowd unsatisfied.

One of the standout matches of the night was the Cruiserweight Title match between Silver King and Juventud Guerrera. This match provided some much-needed excitement and showcased the talent of both wrestlers. In the end, Juventud retained his title with a Juvy Driver and a 450 splash.

The event also featured a match between Raven and Saturn, where if Raven won, Saturn would become his servant forever, but if Saturn won, the Flock would disband. This match had a great backstory and was filled with intense action. Saturn emerged victorious, ending the reign of the Flock.

The night culminated in the WarGames match, where Team WCW, Team NWO Wolfpack, and Team NWO Hollywood battled it out in a double cage. However, the match fell short of expectations, lacking the violence and personal animosity that fans had hoped for. Diamond Dallas Page emerged as the winner, securing a shot at Goldberg’s title.

Overall, Fall Brawl 1998 had its highs and lows. While some matches provided excitement and great storytelling, others fell flat. Despite the shortcomings, it was a memorable night in the world of professional wrestling.
