Professional wrestling legend Bully Ray, also known as Bubba Ray Dudley, recently expressed a change of heart regarding the AEW Continental Classic tournament. In an interview on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray admitted that he initially wasn’t a fan of the tournament but has started to appreciate it.

The AEW Continental Classic tournament is set to conclude with its finals taking place at the Worlds End pay-per-view event on December 30th. Bully Ray’s newfound appreciation for the tournament comes after last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

“Last Wednesday night, going into the show … I was really concerned about how I would feel about the show because I’m not a fan of these tournaments,” Bully Ray said. “I’ve never been a fan of the G1, except for the finals, because I’m not into … ‘Wrestling, wrestling, wrestling.’ I like sports entertainment and wrestling, and a good balance of it. But man, last week won me over.”

Bully Ray went on to highlight some of the matches that won him over, including Moxley vs. Lethal, Rush vs. Mark Briscoe, and Jay White vs. Swerve. He emphasized that each match was unique and offered something different, showcasing the diverse wrestling styles on display in the tournament.

With the AEW Continental Classic tournament, AEW has been able to showcase a variety of wrestling styles and provide fans with a balanced mix of sports entertainment and wrestling. The tournament has allowed wrestlers to shine and tell compelling stories in the ring.

As Bully Ray mentioned, the storytelling aspect of professional wrestling is crucial, and the tournament has provided opportunities for wrestlers to engage in grudge matches and build rivalries. The upcoming main event between Christian and Adam Copeland is expected to be a highlight of the tournament, showcasing the power of storytelling in professional wrestling.

Bully Ray’s change of opinion on the AEW Continental Classic tournament is a testament to the quality of the matches and storytelling presented. It demonstrates that even longtime wrestling fans can be won over by well-executed and diverse wrestling content.
