Baron Corbin recently sat down for an interview with Joey Karni of The Angle Podcast during WWE SummerSlam 2023 weekend. During the interview, Corbin discussed his desire to stay in NXT and take a break from the main roster.
In the interview, Corbin said, “I’m still on all three shows. But I am fighting to stay in NXT a little bit because I really just wanna give our audience a good break from me, you know? Give them a few months without me driving them nuts. So I would like to personally stay in NXT for a couple more months and just really fine-tune the details of what I’m trying to bring to the people and I mean, NXT’s great but I’m also enjoying working the superstars down there. They’re hungry, they got a lot of energy, a lot of excitement, they love this. It elevates your passion… So it’s a fun place to be. They could call me for SmackDown tonight. I don’t know. I don’t know what’s happening but, I’m loving it down there.”
Corbin’s desire to stay in NXT is an interesting move for someone who has already achieved success on the main roster. It shows his dedication to the brand and his willingness to continue honing his skills in the developmental territory.
Corbin’s decision to take a break from the main roster and focus on NXT could also be seen as a way to freshen up his character and give fans a chance to miss him. Sometimes, a change of scenery can do wonders for a performer, allowing them to come back stronger and more rejuvenated.
During the interview, Corbin also spoke highly of the talent in NXT, saying, “I’m also enjoying working the superstars down there. It’s unclear how long Corbin will stay in NXT or when he will make his return to the main roster. As he mentioned in the interview, he could be called up to SmackDown at any time. But for now, Corbin is focused on fine-tuning his skills and enjoying his time in NXT.
