Al Snow Sounds Off on CM Punk Controversy in AEW: Reveals Tony Khan’s Quest for Popularity Over Respect

Al Snow, the President of OVW, recently shared his thoughts on CM Punk’s departure from AEW. In an interview with Forbes, Snow expressed his belief that the situation is a two-fold problem. He emphasized the need for strong leadership to handle Punk’s strong personality.

“Punk’s got a very strong personality. The problem with Punk is you have to have strong leadership, and you have to have as strong a personality as the talent do. And that’s where things can go astray,” said Snow.

Snow went on to discuss Tony Khan, the owner of AEW, whom he considers a “really good guy.” However, Snow feels that many talents do not respect Khan the same way they respect Vince McMahon.

“I think Tony Khan’s a really good guy, but I think for the sake of AEW in these situations—they always come up, the Punk situation is not an unusual circumstance—we’ve had those type of things happen here. But there’s a certain modicum of respect that I have, and as a result, I’m able to direct those people even when those situations occur. I don’t worry about being liked, I worry about being respected. I think Tony wants to be liked, and he should be more focused on being respected. There were lots of times I didn’t like Vince McMahon. He can be an incredible bully. He could be nasty. I’ve always respected him. Always,” explained Snow.

While the main purpose of the interview was to discuss the upcoming “Wrestlers” series on Netflix, which will cover Snow’s OVW promotion, his comments on the CM Punk situation and Tony Khan’s leadership style caught the attention of wrestling fans.

It is not uncommon for personalities to clash in the world of professional wrestling, and CM Punk’s departure from AEW has raised questions about the company’s internal dynamics. Snow’s perspective sheds light on the importance of strong leadership and the need for respect in managing such situations.
