The 2023 WWE Draft kicked off on Friday’s live SmackDown from Corpus Christi, Texas, then wrapped up with this week’s RAW from Fort Worth, TX. There were also picks announced on Saturday’s SmackDown LowDown episode, and Monday’s RAW Talk show.

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H has announced that the post-Draft rosters will officially go into play on Monday, May 9, which is the first RAW after WWE Backlash. It was also announced that due to Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns being drafted to SmackDown, the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion crowned at WWE Night of Champions on Saturday, May 27 will be exclusive to RAW.

The status of the RAW Women’s Title and the SmackDown Women’s Title is up in the air as Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley were drafted to opposite brands. Belair will defend against IYO SKY, who was also drafted to SmackDown, at Backlash, while Ripley will defend against Vega, who is also staying on SmackDown. WWE had a similar situation with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in 2021, and that was resolved with a Championship Exchange Ceremony.

There were 18 WWE NXT Superstars called up to the main roster in the Draft this year – NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell, NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre, Von Wagner, Apollo Crews, Zoey Stark, JD McDonagh, Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson, Elton Prince), Katana Chance and Kayden Carter, Cameron Grimes, Xyon Quinn, Indus Sher (Jinder Mahal, Veer Mahaan, Sanga), Odyssey Jones, and Grayson Waller. Hartwell and Waller are currently injured, so it remains to be seen what will happen with their debuts, and the NXT Women’s Title. It was announced on Friday that new SmackDown stars Dawn and Fyre will defend their titles against former champions Chance and Carter on this week’s NXT, but then Chance and Carter were drafted to RAW on Night 2.
