She’ll take it. Titles are a big deal in wrestling and have been for a very long time now. Earlier this month, news broke that Sonya Deville had suffered a torn ACL and would be forced to vacate her half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. This week on Monday Night Raw, Chelsea Green, Deville’s partner, said she would be looking for a new partner to defend the titles. Piper Niven came in and said she would be Green’s partner, with Green accepting. This is Niven’s first Tag Team Title in WWE and she has not wrestled on WWE television since April.

It was rather forceful. Check out Niven’s announcement, plus some of her in action:

Opinion: This is about as good of an idea as they had, as Deville is not going to be around for a very long time. I’d rather they do this than some four-way match or try to make a tournament. It isn’t like the depth for the division is there, so let Niven get a chance to show what she can do in this spot. She has long since had the talent, so give her a shot and let her showcase it.
