WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler surprised fans with a special appearance during Monday’s RAW in Memphis, TN. Lawler, who hails from Memphis, made his entrance during a commercial break and received a warm welcome from the crowd.
The night kicked off with an exciting match between Damian Priest and Sami Zayn, with Priest emerging victorious. During the subsequent commercial break, Zayn and his tag team partner Kevin Owens returned to the stage. Zayn mentioned being in a bad mood due to “The Judgment Day,” but his mood quickly changed when he spotted Lawler backstage. Zayn and Owens then introduced Lawler to the audience, resulting in a loud pop.
The fans erupted into chants of “Jerry!” as they gave “The King” a standing ovation. Lawler graciously shook hands with Owens and Zayn, waved to the crowd, and made his way back to the backstage area.
Lawler, who is 73 years old, is still recovering from a stroke he suffered earlier this year in February. This was Lawler’s second stroke, as he previously experienced one in 2018. Despite his health challenges, Lawler has made a few appearances on WWE TV since his stroke, including a pre-recorded message in April to celebrate Andy Kaufman’s WWE Hall of Fame induction.
