SANADA Leads A Block in G1 Climax 33 with One Match Left
The race to advance out of A Block in G1 Climax 33 is heating up, with SANADA currently in the lead and five other wrestlers still in contention. The sixth night of the league in Takamatsu showcased some intense matches that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats.
The top match of the night featured Yota Tsuji and Shota Umino battling it out. Umino started strong with a quick shotgun dropkick, but Tsuji fought back with a corner curb stomp and a tope suicida. The match continued with both wrestlers delivering impressive offense, but it was Tsuji who ultimately came out on top with a Gene Blaster Spear for the win.
In another exciting match, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA faced off against Gabe Kidd. Kidd attacked SANADA before the bell even rang, using a steel chair and the STRONG Openweight Tag title belt to his advantage. Despite Kidd’s aggressive tactics, SANADA managed to kick out of a pinfall and fight back. In the end, SANADA secured the victory with a Deadfall, keeping his undefeated streak intact.
Chase Owens had a slim chance of advancing to the last eight, but his hopes were dashed when he faced Ren Narita. Owens tried to draw Narita into making a mistake, but Narita stayed focused and eventually forced Owens to tap out with a Cobra Twist. This win gave Narita his first victory in the tournament and eliminated Owens from contention.
The first match of the night featured Hikuleo against Kaito Kiyomiya. Kiyomiya started strong by targeting Hikuleo’s knee, but Hikuleo fought back and delivered a crunching clothesline. Kiyomiya retaliated with a Dragon Screw and a series of rolling elbows, but Hikuleo managed to counter and stay alive in the tournament with a snap powerslam.
With only one league match left for A Block, the competition is reaching its climax. On August 5 in Osaka, SANADA will face Chase Owens, Hikuleo will take on Shota Umino, Kaito Kiyomiya will face Ren Narita, and Yota Tsuji will go up against Gabe Kidd.
