According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Reigns’ next defense won’t take place until WWE’s next premium live event in Saudi Arabia on November 4th. This means Reigns will not be wrestling at the upcoming Payback event in September or the Fastlane event in October.
While some may assume that Reigns’ absence is due to his part-time status as a special attraction, there could be more to the story. Since SummerSlam, Reigns has only appeared on SmackDown once, leading to speculation about a possible injury. Reports have suggested that Reigns may have suffered a hip or back injury during his match against Jey in Detroit. The extended time off could be a precautionary measure to allow Reigns to recover and preserve his aura while building up the drama surrounding The Bloodline.
As for potential opponents for Reigns upon his return, Jimmy Uso has been vying to regain his spot in The Bloodline on SmackDown. However, he recently lost to AJ Styles, leading to interference from The Judgment Day faction. This opens up several possibilities for Reigns, including potential matches against Styles and The OC or Damian Priest and Finn Bálor’s group.
