Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman’s Powerful Influence Over Title Reign Raises Eyebrows

He’s the chief. Roman Reigns has currently been Universal Champion for just shy of three years. Reigns retained the title again at Summerslam by defeating Jey Uso, leaving him with no apparent challenger to the title. It has left fans wondering who or when will take the title from Reigns, and now we know a bit more about how it will be decided when he will be defeated.

According to Fightful Select, a WWE source said that the title reign when end “whenever Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman say it f****** ends.” The two are said to have heavy influence over who will end the title reign and when they feel it is best for business, the title will change hands. There is also said to have never been any serious consideration to have Cody Rhodes win the title at WrestleMania 39 earlier this year, which Rhodes knew far in advance.

Reigns has been a force. Check out some of his big title defenses:

Opinion: Assuming this is true, we could be seeing Reigns holding the title for a long time to come. I’m not sure what their definition of “best for business” will be but if there is no one able to veto their plans, there is a chance that Reigns holds the title for a very long time. Things are going well at the moment, but at some point a change is going to have to be made. Reigns and Heyman might not be the best choices to make that decision.
