Rampage’s Unbroken Streak of Women’s Main Event Action!

All Elite Wrestling’s Friday night show, Rampage, has been showcasing the women’s division in the main event slot, and this trend is continuing to gain momentum. In six of the last seven episodes, a women’s match has closed the show, highlighting the growing importance of the women’s division in AEW.

Since episode 101 of Rampage, the main event matches have included a variety of women’s contests. From the Owen Hart tournament semifinal between Willow Nightingale and Athena to the TBS Championship match where Kris Statlander defeated Marina Shafir, the women of AEW have been given the opportunity to shine in the main event.

One notable exception to this trend was the Parking Lot Fight between Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli and the Best Friends. However, this match was a specialized contest filmed in a different venue, making it a unique main event choice.

AEW has made a conscious effort to feature the women’s division in the main event, with twelve of the first 100 Rampage main events dedicated to women’s matches. Now, in only seven shows of the second 100, they are already halfway to meeting that number. This consistent focus on the women’s division allows for more storytelling and the development of rising stars.

While AEW has not publicly acknowledged this trend, it is a positive step towards giving the women’s division the spotlight it deserves. By consistently booking women’s matches in the main event of Rampage, AEW is carving out a niche for the women’s division and allowing it to prosper.

It is fitting that the women’s division is showcased in the main event of Rampage, as the very first main event of the show featured Dr. Britt Baker DMD defending her AEW Women’s World Championship against Red Velvet. This set the tone for the importance of women’s wrestling in AEW and paved the way for the current trend of women’s main events on Rampage.

AEW should continue this trend and further elevate the women’s division. By consistently featuring women’s matches in the main event, AEW can create more opportunities for their female talent to shine and attract new fans to the product.
