Payback 2023: Expert Predictions and Must-Read Preview

WWE is bringing back one of its shows, Payback, and while there isn’t a major theme or concept for the show, it still promises to deliver some exciting matches. The card may not be the strongest due to the lack of build-up, but let’s take a closer look at what we can expect.

The Women’s World Title match will feature Rhea Ripley defending her championship against Raquel Rodriguez. This hoss fight will showcase two powerhouses going head-to-head, and while the match will undoubtedly be entertaining, Ripley’s title reign is not in serious danger. Rodriguez will put up a fight, but the title will remain with Ripley.

In the Tag Team Title match, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens will defend their championships against Judgment Day in a street fight. Both teams excel in the wild brawling style, but Zayn and Owens have not cooled off enough to lose the titles. Judgment Day may win something in the future, but it won’t be the Tag Team Titles on this occasion.

Rey Mysterio will defend the United States Title against Austin Theory. While Mysterio may seem vulnerable as a champion, it’s unlikely that Theory will take the title back. Mysterio is expected to drop the title to Santos Escobar in the near future, so he will retain against Theory.

LA Knight will face The Miz in a match that has been built up through promos. Knight is currently one of the hottest stars in WWE, and he is expected to come out on top in this match. The Miz has been in serious mode recently, making the win for Knight even more meaningful.

Becky Lynch will take on Trish Stratus in a cage match, which should finally put an end to their prolonged feud. Lynch has already taken out Zoey Stark, setting the stage for her victory over Stratus. Stratus is not expected to stick around after this match, so Lynch will come out on top.

The World Heavyweight Championship match will see Seth Rollins defend his title against Shinsuke Nakamura. While this match has the potential to headline the show, it still feels like a glorified midcard title match. Rollins is likely to retain the title, as Nakamura is currently positioned as the challenger of the month.

Overall, the Payback card may not be the most stacked, but there are still some intriguing matches to look forward to. The show could benefit from some additional surprises or a potential showdown between Cody Rhodes and John Cena. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how these matches play out and if any unexpected twists occur.
