Ospreay Sets Sights on Jericho as Wembley Arena Gets Ready for Epic Showdown

Ospreay Don Callis’ ringer in Jericho attack

Speculation in recent weeks on AEW Dynamite had surrounded Chris Jericho, and the dissolution of the Jericho Appreciation Society faction. The group going their separate ways was in part instigated by Don Callis, who had made direct appeals for Jericho to join his ‘family’.

Jericho would agree to the invitation, news that shocked Don Callis as much as it did the crowd in attendance. Callis, in preparation for Jericho’s refusal, had a picture painted that depicted him holding Jericho’s head aloft. Callis tried to talk his way out of the difficult spot, before admitting that he had assumed Jericho’s ego meant he ‘didn’t deserve to be in the Don Callis family’. As Jericho fired back that Callis had ruined every relationship he’d ever had, Callis slapped Jericho; that drew first Konosuke Takeshita and then, shockingly Will Ospreay to the ring.

Ospreay wiped out Jericho with a Hidden Blade and then smashed a chair over his head. Having accepted the aid of Callis during his Forbidden Door match against Kenny Omega back in June, Ospreay held Jericho for Callis to smash the painting over the legend’s head.

As a result, a singles match has been made for AEW’s huge Wembley Stadium event on August 27. Will Jericho put Ospreay in his place, or having beaten Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada in a one month span, will IWGP UK Champion Ospreay score a third victory in front of pro-wrestling’s biggest paid attendance in history to complete a legendary summer?

There has been a major development in the world of professional wrestling as Will Ospreay has aligned himself with Don Callis in a shocking attack on Chris Jericho. The incident took place during an episode of AEW Dynamite, where tensions between Jericho and Callis had been building up for weeks.

It all started with the dissolution of the Jericho Appreciation Society faction, which was partly instigated by Callis. He had been making direct appeals to Jericho, urging him to join his “family.” Surprisingly, Jericho accepted the invitation, leaving both Callis and the crowd in disbelief.

Callis, however, had prepared for Jericho’s refusal. He had a picture painted depicting him holding Jericho’s head aloft, assuming that Jericho’s ego would prevent him from joining the Callis family. But when Jericho fired back, accusing Callis of ruining every relationship he had ever had, Callis slapped him, escalating the situation.

What happened next shocked everyone in attendance. First, Konosuke Takeshita rushed to the ring to defend Jericho, followed by none other than Will Ospreay. Ospreay unleashed a devastating Hidden Blade on Jericho, knocking him down, and then proceeded to smash a chair over his head.

It is worth noting that Ospreay had previously accepted Callis’ aid during his Forbidden Door match against Kenny Omega in June. This unexpected alliance has now led to a singles match between Jericho and Ospreay at AEW’s upcoming event at Wembley Stadium on August 27.

This match is set to be one of the biggest attractions of the summer, with Jericho looking to put Ospreay in his place after
