Omos Reveals Concerns Over Possible Shift to Babyface Character

WWE superstar Omos recently discussed the possibility of a babyface turn in an interview with Blake Murphy of Sportsnet. Throughout his WWE career, Omos has portrayed a heel character, and he expressed concern that fans may not buy into him as a babyface due to his imposing size.

From a psychological standpoint, Omos acknowledged the challenges of garnering sympathy as someone who stands at seven-foot-three, possesses an intimidating physique, and exudes a dominant presence. He stated, “Heels don’t inspire people, only babyfaces do. And for me, that’s going to be the challenge: How can this big, giant person inspire people? Because there’s no relatability to someone who’s seven-foot-three… the moment where you see me with somebody smaller than me, the brain says, ‘I want the little guy to kick the big guy’s ass.'”

Omos, whose real name is Jordan Omogbehin, also expressed his enthusiasm for his career in WWE, describing it as one of the best decisions he has ever made. He emphasized the joy of waking up every day, going to work, and playing a character on television that elicits strong emotions from the audience. Omos acknowledged the investment fans have in the characters presented on TV and the impact he can have on younger viewers, saying, “To know that some kid out there watching the show, they’re going to grow up watching me on TV. I could have never pictured this life.”

Omos’ comments shed light on the unique challenges he faces as a giant in the world of professional wrestling. While smaller wrestlers often elicit sympathy and support from the audience, Omos must find a way to connect with fans despite his imposing stature. It will be intriguing to see how WWE’s creative team navigates this issue and whether they decide to explore a babyface turn for Omos in the future.
