Complete cards have been released for first round New Japan Cup action today, with plenty of intrigue surrounding combinations beneath already announced tournament matches.
The second round will start on March 11 in Dolphin’s Arena in Nagoya. KENTA will face either SANADA or Taichi, while Chase Owens meets either Tetsuya Naito or El Phantasmo on the night, which also has a thrilling tag team bout announced.
Roughneck Shota Umino and Son of Strong Style Ren Narita will be teaming for the first time since their excursions on the night as they take on the dream team of Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada. With a challenge to Bishamon on March 6 at Anniversary, Okada and Tanahashi could very well be IWGP Tag Team Champions, but even with title status aside, this bout will be a major opportunity for Narita and Umino.
