Mick Foley Pays Tribute to Bray Wyatt

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley took to Facebook today to write a longer tribute to Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda), who unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack last Thursday at the age of 36.

Foley wrote about how he learned that one of his personal favorite wrestlers had passed away, his history with Wyatt’s father Mike Rotunda, meeting Wyatt in 2011 or 2012 and Wyatt being inspired by one of his WWE promos, and more. Foley also recalled how Paul Heyman called him in 2019 to see how he would feel if Wyatt, as The Fiend, used his Mandible Claw finisher. This led to Foley being the first victim of The Fiend’s Mandible Claw on the July 22, 2019 RAW Reunion show. Foley said he will always be proud to hold that distinction.

Foley shared his memories of Bray Wyatt, highlighting their connection through their shared wrestling history. He mentioned how his admiration for Wyatt’s father, Mike Rotunda, led to an instant connection with Bray during his time as Husky Harris in WWE. Foley also expressed his frustration with fans who chanted “Husky Harris” during The Wyatt Family’s debut, recognizing the hard work Bray had put into creating his character.

Bray Wyatt’s career took off with “The Wyatt Family,” which captivated WWE audiences with its eerie promos and unique style. Foley described how he would always be completely focused whenever Bray Wyatt appeared onscreen, as he commanded attention with his performances. Foley also shared a heartwarming story of Bray seeking his guidance on a wrestling move, showcasing his kindness and respect as a person.

In 2019, Foley received a call from Paul Heyman, asking for his approval to have Bray Wyatt use his Mandible Claw finisher as The Fiend. Foley enthusiastically agreed and became the first victim of The Fiend’s Mandible Claw, a moment he will always cherish.

Mick Foley concluded his tribute by expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to play a small role in Bray Wyatt’s incredible career. He will remember Bray not only for his memorable promos, great matches, and captivating entrances, but also for his kindness and warmth as a person. Foley extended his deepest condolences to Wyatt’s family, fans, and everyone who loved him.
