It had been previously reported that WWE superstar Sonya Deville was the target of a stalker in August 2020. The man was subsequently arrested for his actions.
Philip A. Thomas II, 24, broke into Deville’s home at 2:45 AM on August 16, 2020. Deville managed to escape and called the police, who arrested Thomas at her home. According to FOX 13 in Tampa Bay, Thomas pleaded guilty to several charges, including attempted kidnapping, aggravated stalking, and armed burglary on Tuesday. As part of his plea agreement, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by 15 years of probation.
Deville had the following to say about the incident when she appeared in court shortly after the arrest:
“I saw a man standing there,” she said. “I had black clothing on and a black mask and he was just standing there staring at me. I looked up I saw him. I was terrified! I started screaming I don’t even know what I said what the “f” are you doing here? What do you want?”

Thomas had stalked Deville on social media for years and had commented on stories about her, but had never met her nor knew her personally. He had been planning the kidnapping for eight months. According to the Hillsborough Count Sheriff’s Department, he had driven from South Carolina to Deville’s home in Lutz, Florida, which is about a seven-hour drive. There is no word on what Thomas’ exact motive for the kidnapping attempt.
