Major Showdown Announced for Impact Victory Road, Surprising Opponent Revealed for Jordynne Grace’s Comeback

Alisha Edwards has emerged as the new #1 contender for the Impact Wrestling Knockouts World Title. In a Battle Royal held on the post-Emergence edition of Impact, Edwards secured her shot at the title by eliminating Jody Threat and KiLynn King simultaneously. It was then announced that Edwards will challenge Trinity for the title at Victory Road.

The 10-Knockout Battle Royal featured a stacked lineup of competitors, including Jessicka, Courtney Rush, Knockouts World Tag Team Champion Masha Slamovich, Knockouts World Tag Team Champion Killer Kelly, Vanna Black, Savannah Evans, and Gisele Shaw.

Despite having been with Impact since March 2017, this will only be Edwards’ second opportunity to compete for the Knockouts World Title. Her first chance came in a loss to then-champion Taya Valkyrie on August 15, 2019, at the Impact TV tapings in Mexico.

Trinity, the current champion, will be defending her title for the second time since winning it from Deonna Purrazzo at Slammiversary on July 15. Trinity’s first successful defense took place at the recent Emergence event, where she retained the title against Purrazzo.

In other news, Impact has announced that Purrazzo will face the returning Jordynne Grace at Victory Road. Grace’s return was previously announced during Emergence, but her opponent was not revealed until tonight’s Impact. Purrazzo promptly issued a challenge, leading to the match being scheduled for Victory Road.

This upcoming match between Purrazzo and Grace will mark the seventh singles encounter in their rivalry. Notable matches in their series include Purrazzo capturing the Knockouts World Title from Grace at Impact Slammiversary on July 18, 2020, and Purrazzo successfully defending the title over Grace in a 30-minute Iron Woman match at Impact Emergence Day 2 on August 25, 2020. Currently, Purrazzo holds a 4-2 advantage in their singles matches.

Grace has been absent from the ring since her loss to then-champion Purrazzo in the Last Chance match at Impact Under Siege on May 26. However, she recently returned with a new deal, ready to make her mark once again.

The 2023 Impact Victory Road pay-per-view is set to take place on Friday, September 8, at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York. The updated card for the event is as follows:

Impact Knockouts World Title Match: Alisha Edwards vs. Trinity (c)
