Labor Day WWE RAW: Explosive Championship Showdown Announced, Plus Exciting Additions Revealed!

The post-Payback and Labor Day edition of WWE RAW is set to be an action-packed event, with two exciting matches already announced. The show will take place live next Monday from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC.

One of the highly anticipated matches will see Chad Gable challenging WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER. This will be a significant match for GUNTHER as a victory would make him the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time, surpassing the record held by WWE Hall of Famer The Honky Tonk Man, who held the title for an impressive 453 days.

Gable earned the #1 contender spot by winning a Fatal 4 Way match against Tommaso Ciampa, Matt Riddle, and Ricochet on the August 7 episode of RAW. He previously faced GUNTHER for the title on August 21 but won by count out, allowing GUNTHER to retain the championship. Despite the loss, Gable made history by handing GUNTHER his first televised singles defeat on the main roster and his first loss on TV since dropping the WWE NXT Championship to Bron Breakker on April 5, 2022.

This upcoming match will be a chance for Gable to prove himself once again and potentially capture the Intercontinental Championship. On the other hand, GUNTHER will be determined to secure the victory and solidify his place in the history books as the longest-reigning champion.

In addition to the Intercontinental Championship match, WWE has also announced a Tag Team Tornado match featuring The Viking Raiders against Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle.

These two teams have been engaged in a heated rivalry with The New Day, all vying for an opportunity to challenge Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. On a recent episode of RAW, The Viking Raiders, Erik and Ivar, defeated Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods while McIntyre and Riddle observed from ringside. Tensions escalated when Ivar slammed Kingston into McIntyre and Riddle, causing McIntyre to become enraged and start throwing ringside furniture. McIntyre’s actions inadvertently led to Woods being taken out by an announcer’s chair, and ultimately, The Vikings claimed victory.

Following the match, McIntyre apologized to Kingston and Woods, expressing his intent to resolve their issues with The Viking Raiders. He then approached Adam Pearce, the authority figure, to discuss the match stipulations. WWE later confirmed that the match between The Viking Raiders and McIntyre/Riddle will be a Tag Team Tornado match, adding an extra layer of chaos and intensity to the bout.

The current card for next Monday’s Labor Day RAW is as follows:

– Fallout from WWE Payback

– The Viking Raiders vs. Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle in a Tag Team Tornado match

– WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER defends against Chad Gable
