The New Day made a triumphant return to the WWE this past Monday, with Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston defeating the Viking Raiders in their first match back in months. Kingston recently spoke about their return on The Bump, expressing his gratitude and promising to bring the “Power of Positivity” back to the WWE Universe.
Kingston described the feeling of being back as incredible and amazing, but also a little strange. Having been out of action for almost five months due to an ankle injury, Kingston and Woods felt a sense of anxiety as they walked into the building and returned to the fold. However, the WWE Universe has a way of making all the pain and doubts disappear, as Kingston explained:
“Honestly, it was like riding a bike, to be honest. Just having been away from the ring for that long, you always have this question in the back of your mind, like, ‘Am I gonna forget how to do this? Are the people gonna forget who I am?’ Especially with my ankle injury, am I still gonna be able to do what I do? Am I still gonna be able to move around well out there? But fortunately, the WWE Universe has a way of just making all the pain and everything go away. As soon as you walk through those curtains, you don’t feel anything pain-wise. There’s such a rush of adrenaline, and you go out there and you do what you do. So that’s what we did. It was fantastic, it was incredible.”
The New Day’s return has been met with excitement from fans, who have missed their unique brand of entertainment and positivity. However, not all members of the group are back in action. Big E, the third member of the New Day, is still sidelined due to a neck injury he suffered last year. Unfortunately, it seems that Big E may never be able to wrestle again, as doctors have advised him against it.
The New Day’s return marks a significant moment in the WWE, as they bring their infectious energy and charisma back to the ring. Fans can expect more exciting matches and memorable moments from this beloved trio.
