WWE NXT Results 8/29/2023: The Creed Brothers Win Steel Cage Match, Kiana James Becomes #1 Contender

– Tonight’s post-Heatwave edition of WWE NXT opens up on the USA Network with a graphic in memory of WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk, who passed away last Wednesday at the age of 79, and Bray Wyatt, who passed away at the age of 36 on Thursday. We go to a video package of highlights from last week’s Heatwave special episode. We’re now live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida as Vic Joseph welcomes us. He’s joined at ringside by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T.

In the opening match of the night, The Creed Brothers faced off against The Dyad in a Steel Cage Match. The Creeds were fighting for their reinstatement in NXT, and they had to overcome the interference of The Schism followers. Despite the odds, The Creed Brothers emerged victorious, with Julius Creed hitting a diving forearm on Rip Fowler and Brutus Creed hitting the same move on Jagger Reid for the double pin.

In the next segment, Roxanne Perez cut a promo hyping the Fatal 4 Way main event. She expressed her readiness to reclaim what she believes is rightfully hers. The main event featured Perez, Gigi Dolin, Blair Davenport, and Kiana James competing for the #1 contender spot for the NXT Women’s Championship. After a chaotic match, it was Kiana James who emerged victorious, pinning Dolin after hitting her with the 401K and a Facebuster.

The NXT Global Heritage Invitational also kicked off with matches from Group A and Group B. Butch defeated Charlie Dempsey in Group A, securing the first points in the tournament. In Group B, Joe Coffey defeated Nathan Frazer, also earning his first points.

Other notable moments from the night included Ilja Dragunov calling out Noam Dar and Meta-Four, Von Wagner challenging Bron Breakker to a No DQ match, and a backstage brawl involving Dana Brooke, Kelani Jordan, Lola Vice, and Elektra Lopez.

The show also featured tributes to the late Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt. The NXT roster and fans paid their respects to these wrestling legends.

That wraps up this week’s episode of WWE NXT. Stay tuned to prowrestlingwars.com for more updates and coverage of professional wrestling.
