Iconic Hall of Famers Throw Down Gauntlet for Impact 1000, Unveiling of More Battle-Hardened Veterans

Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer Gail Kim is set to make her in-ring return at the 1000th episode of Impact Wrestling, and she has issued a challenge for her comeback match. Kim will be teaming up with fellow Hall of Famer Awesome Kong, who is also coming out of retirement for the event.

Kim and Kong have a storied history in Impact Wrestling, with a dozen singles matches and several multi-woman matches between them. However, they have only teamed up once before, in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match against Taryn Terrell, Marti Belle, and Jade (aka Mia Yim) of The Dollhouse in 2015.

For their return match at Impact 1000, Kim has thrown down the gauntlet and challenged any two Knockouts from the past, present, or future to face them. It remains to be seen who will step up to the challenge and be their opponents.

Kim, who currently works as a producer for Impact Wrestling, has not wrestled since her loss to Tessa Blanchard at Impact Rebellion in April 2019. The Rebellion match was Kim’s first since her announced retirement in 2018, following a win over Kasey Owens at a Southside Wrestling show in the UK. Kim is a seven-time Knockouts World Champion and was inducted into the Impact Hall of Fame in 2016.

The 1000th episode of Impact Wrestling will also feature other current and veteran stars, including The Beautiful People (Velvet Sky, Angelina Love), Tommy Dreamer, D’Lo Brown, Team 3D, Impact World Champion Alex Shelley, and more. A Fan Celebration event will be held earlier in the day, featuring meet & greets, Q&A sessions, and exclusive merchandise.

Impact 1000 will be taped on September 9 at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY, and will air on September 14 as the post-Victory Road show. Additional episodes will also be taped that night, leading up to the Bound For Glory pay-per-view on October 21.
