Eagles to meet for IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship at Sakura Genesis

Hiromu Takahashi emerged victorious from his March 21 clash with Lio Rush at the New Japan Cup final, but his victory party would be interrupted by Zack Sabre Jr. who came with a challenge.

ZSJ made sure Hiromu knew that since he wasn’t a junior heavyweight, the challenge was not from him, but rather the newest member of TMDK. That member turned out, via video message, to be Robbie Eagles. Eagles promised the retaining Hiromu that he would ‘surrender to the Sniper’ as a stunned champion and Aore Nagaoka took in the news.

In response, Takahashi would ask ‘can anyone just challenge if they put together a video package these days?’ But followed his quip with immediate acceptance. The title bout now seems set and ready for Sakura Genesis on April 8 in Ryogoku.
