The G1 Climax 33 continues with the second night in EDION Arena, where the B Block competitors will battle it out to secure their spots in the quarterfinals. With half of the elite eight bracket already confirmed, the pressure is on for these wrestlers to deliver and advance in the tournament.
The main event of the evening will feature a match between Will Ospreay and El Phantasmo. Ospreay currently holds a record of 4-2, while El Phantasmo stands at 3-3. The two wrestlers have faced each other multiple times in the past, with Ospreay holding a slight edge with a singles record of 4-3. However, the stakes are high for both competitors in this match.
El Phantasmo must secure a victory in order to advance to the quarterfinals, while Ospreay can advance with either a win or a draw. Ospreay has been on a roll in the G1 Climax 33, with notable victories over top wrestlers such as Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada. However, a recent countout upset against Tanga Loa served as a reminder that Ospreay is not invincible. El Phantasmo will be looking to capitalize on this opportunity and secure his spot in the elite eight.
In the 8th match of the evening, Kazuchika Okada will face Tanga Loa. Okada currently holds a record of 5-1 and is guaranteed advancement to the quarterfinals. On the other hand, Tanga Loa stands at 3-3 and is mathematically eliminated from advancing. Despite being eliminated, Tanga Loa has had impressive victories over Great-O-Khan and KENTA, and a countout upset against Ospreay. A strong performance against Okada could be a stepping stone for Tanga Loa’s future in the G1 Climax.
Taichi and Great-O-Khan will face off in the third match of the evening. Both wrestlers are mathematically eliminated from advancing to the quarterfinals. Taichi has had a respectable G1 campaign with a record of 3-3, including a victory over Ospreay. Great-O-Khan, on the other hand, has had a disappointing run with a record of 2-4. Both competitors will be looking to finish the block phase on a high note and gain momentum for future matches.
In the sixth match of the evening, YOSHI-HASHI will take on KENTA. Both wrestlers are mathematically eliminated from advancing to the quarterfinals. The two have a personal history dating back three years, with KENTA joining BULLET CLUB and clashing with YOSHI-HASHI over the NEVER Openweight Championship. Despite being eliminated, both wrestlers will be looking to end their G1 campaign with a victory.
