SANADA Secures Spot in Quarterfinals with Victory Over Ren Narita
In a thrilling match that took place at Ota Gymnasium on July 27, SANADA emerged victorious against Ren Narita, solidifying his position at the top of A Block and guaranteeing his spot in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The World Heavyweight Champion faced a tough challenge from Narita, who fought valiantly to stay alive in the competition.
The match started with both competitors exchanging holds, showcasing their technical prowess. SANADA was able to gain an advantage with a half hatch suplex, which allowed him to apply a groin stretch and a knee bar. However, Narita was not ready to give up and fought back with a series of strikes and a laced Boston Crab, targeting SANADA’s injured knee.
As the match progressed, both wrestlers continued to deliver impressive moves and counter each other’s attacks. SANADA executed a powerful dropkick and plancha, but Narita retaliated with a Cobra Twist. Despite his injured knee, SANADA managed to hit a Shining Wizard and a Deadfall, securing the victory and ensuring his first-place finish in A Block with two matches remaining.
Meanwhile, Yota Tsuji and Hikuleo battled it out in a high-stakes match to keep their hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals alive. Tsuji showed great strategy by targeting Hikuleo’s weaknesses and utilizing his speed advantage. He delivered a picture-perfect suplex and a well-timed power slam counter.
However, Hikuleo proved to be a formidable opponent and showcased his own impeccable timing. He prevented Tsuji’s spear with a knee strike and ultimately secured the win with a power slam and a devastating move called Godsend. Despite their best efforts, both Tsuji and Hikuleo were unable to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
In another intense match, Gabe Kidd faced Kaito Kiyomiya in a wild encounter that spilled out of the ring. Kidd attempted a cannonball on Kiyomiya, who managed to escape, causing Kidd to crash into the chairs. The match eventually made its way back to the ring, but the brawl continued outside the ring, resulting in a double count-out.
The first match of the night featured Shota Umino, who secured his second consecutive win against Chase Owens. Owens controlled much of the match and utilized mind games to frustrate Umino. However, Umino managed to turn the tide and secured the victory with a Death Rider.
The action in A Block will continue on August 1 in Takamatsu. The upcoming matches include Shota Umino vs. Yota Tsuji, Gabe Kidd vs. SANADA, Ren Narita vs. Chase Owens, and Hikuleo vs. Kaito Kiyomiya.
