Tonight’s WWE NXT episode opened up on the USA Network, live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Vic Joseph welcomed us, and he was joined at ringside by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T.
NXT Tag Team Titles Match: The Dyad vs. The Family (c)
The show started with a tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Titles. The Dyad’s Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid with Ava, Joe Gacy, and their followers faced off against the NXT Tag Team Champions The Family – Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo.
The match was fast-paced and action-packed, with both teams giving it their all. The Family showcased their teamwork and double-teamed Fowler, while The Dyad fought back with their unique style. The match saw several near falls and high spots, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats.
In the end, Tony D’Angelo slammed Rip Fowler with a big suplex for the pinfall victory, retaining the NXT Tag Team Titles for The Family.
After the match, Tony D and Stacks celebrated with the titles, while Ivy Nile watched from the entrance-way, blocked by Ava and the followers.
Eddy Thorpe Vignette
Following the tag team match, a vignette aired featuring Eddy Thorpe. Thorpe talked about moving forward without fear and how important dance is to his medicine and his people. He expressed his readiness to face Dijak again and his determination to move forward without fear.
Backstage Segment: Carmelo Hayes and Wes Lee
Backstage, NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes was signing merchandise when Wes Lee approached him. Lee expressed his frustration with Hayes not answering his calls or messages and reminded him to focus on his match against Dijak. Lee also mentioned that once he wins his match, all Hayes has to worry about is signing the contract to make their Heatwave match official.
Blair Davenport vs. Dana Brooke
The next match featured Blair Davenport taking on Dana Brooke. The match was hard-hitting, with both women showcasing their athleticism and strength. Davenport ultimately secured the victory with a knee strike finisher, pinning Brooke for the win.
Trick Williams vs. Drew Gulak
Trick Williams went head-to-head with Drew Gulak in the next match. The match was intense, with both competitors giving it their all. Trick Williams showed off his high-flying abilities and resilience, ultimately hitting his Superman Punch finisher for the pinfall victory.
Baron Corbin Promo and Von Wagner Confrontation
Baron Corbin made his way to the ring and delivered a promo, expressing his frustration with the locker room and his desire to reclaim his spot in the main event. However, he was interrupted by Von Wagner and Mr. Stone.
Von Wagner confronted Corbin, calling him out on his repetitive sob story. He challenged Corbin to a match next week, promising to put Corbin through a table. The confrontation escalated into a brawl, which had to be broken up by security.
#1 Contenders Match: Wes Lee vs. Dijak
The main event of the evening was a #1 Contenders Match between Wes Lee and Dijak. The match was hard-fought, with both competitors showcasing their skills and resilience. In the end, Wes Lee emerged victorious, securing the #1 contendership for the NXT Title and earning a match against Carmelo Hayes at Heatwave.
