Exciting G1 Climax 33 D Block Update: August 9 Showdown Revealed!

The Elite Eight of G1 Climax 33 has been finalized, with Tetsuya Naito and Zack Sabre Jr. advancing to the elimination phase. The last night of D Block action saw intense matches and surprising outcomes.

Jeff Cobb was in a strong position to advance out of D Block with a win in the first league critical match of the night. Despite a valiant effort from Cobb, his match against Haste ended in a double countout. This result put Cobb at the top of the table, but only one point clear, leaving the door open for Zack Sabre Jr. to secure his spot with a victory over Goto.

Zack Sabre Jr. wasted no time punishing Goto, targeting his injured ribs with a barrage of submission holds. Goto fought back with incredible resilience, delivering powerful blows to Sabre. However, Sabre proved to be too much for Goto, eventually forcing him to submit. With this victory, Sabre secured his place in the next phase of the G1 Climax.

The main event of the night featured a high-stakes match between Tetsuya Naito and Hiroshi Tanahashi. Naito needed a win or a draw to advance. Both competitors displayed their signature moves and put up a thrilling fight. In the end, Naito managed to secure a victory with a well-executed tornado DDT and an inside cradle.

In addition to the Elite Eight matches, Alex Coughlin faced Toru Yano. Yano was initially attacked by Gabe Kidd during his entrance, but he fought back and eventually defeated Coughlin with a belt shot and a Jackhammer.

The G1 Climax quarterfinals will take place on August 10 in Funabashi. The matchups include Hikuleo versus Tetsuya Naito, Will Ospreay versus David Finlay, EVIL versus SANADA, and Kazuchika Okada versus Zack Sabre Jr.
