Edge Set to Compete in Special Wrestling Match for WWE TV Comeback!

Edge Set to Wrestle Special Match in WWE TV Return

WWE Hall of Famer Edge is gearing up for a special match as he makes his return to television this month. The 25th Anniversary of Edge’s WWE debut will be celebrated on the August 18 SmackDown, which will take place at the Scotiabank Arena in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

According to a report from Better Wrestling Experience, a “celebratory match” for Edge has been discussed for next Friday’s SmackDown in Toronto. While the opponent has not been confirmed, it is believed that Edge’s “old mate” will be stepping into the ring with him. However, it won’t be Randy Orton. Further details about the match have not been provided.

Edge, who announced his plans for retirement after his win over Damian Priest at a RAW event in Toronto last year, has expressed his desire to have a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Title before retiring. The current champion is Seth Rollins. WWE previously celebrated Edge’s 25 years in the industry with the #Edge25 campaign on digital and social media. Edge made his debut on June 22, 1998, and the celebration will continue on SmackDown as the show returns to Toronto.

Since his victory over Finn Balor in Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania 39 in April, Edge has only competed in two matches. The first was a Triple Threat match on the May 12 SmackDown, where he faced off against Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles as part of the WWE World Heavyweight Title Tournament. He then went on to defeat Grayson Waller on the July 7 SmackDown at Madison Square Garden.
