Orange Cassidy successfully defended his AEW International Championship against Wheeler Yuta on the August 16th episode of Dynamite. This was Yuta’s second attempt at the title, but the animosity between the two had escalated due to Cassidy and Best Friends’ ongoing issues with Yuta’s new group, the Blackpool Combat Club.
Yuta showcased the attitude and tactics he had learned from the BCC as he targeted Cassidy’s previous injuries sustained during his reign as champion. Cassidy managed to stay focused despite the arrival of Yuta’s new mentors, Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli. Cassidy even sent a message to Moxley with a Paradigm Shift before eventually rolling up Yuta to retain his title.
However, the Blackpool Combat Club didn’t waste any time and launched an attack on Cassidy after the match. Fortunately, Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta, who had been absent since their Parking Lot Brawl with Moxley and his crew, made their return. Although still recovering from their previous match on Rampage, Taylor and Beretta received assistance from another team involved in the feud, the Lucha Bros.
As the Blackpoolers were prepared to charge the ring with chairs in hand, Eddie Kingston made a surprise return from New Japan and the G1 Climax tournament. With Moxley, Castagnoli, and Yuta retreating, Kingston issued a challenge for the upcoming All In event – a Stadium Stampede match at (Wembley) Stadium!
The exact lineup for this venue-wide war is not yet clear, but it is reminiscent of the Stadium Stampede matches AEW previously held at Double or Nothing in 2020 and 2021. We will provide updates as the teams are clarified.
UPDATE: The Blackpool Combat Club will have three mystery partners to even the odds against Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, Chuck Taylor, Penta, and Fenix.
