Trick Williams pulled off a stunning upset at the Deadline premium live event, booking his ticket to an NXT championship match. However, the main event of the evening belonged to Ilja Dragunov defending his NXT championship against Baron Corbin.
Baron Corbin, who had spent a considerable amount of time at the top of the card on the main roster without capturing a championship, returned to NXT in search of reinvention and gold. Dragunov, the current champion, stood in his way.
Despite Corbin’s efforts, the obstacle proved to be insurmountable.

In the end, Dragunov delivered three H-bombs and a Torpedo Moscow to secure the pinfall victory and retain his title. Prior to the final blow, he even took a moment to embrace Corbin, reminiscent of their encounter on NXT television leading up to the event.
Without wasting any time, Trick Williams made his entrance, standing in the aisle to remind everyone of his pursuit of the championship. Carmelo Hayes followed closely behind as the show concluded.
