In an interview with the Daily Mail’s Alex McCarthy, Danielson expressed his excitement for the ongoing tournament and addressed the absence of fellow AEW superstar Kenny Omega.
When asked why Omega was not participating in the tournament, Danielson admitted that he was unsure of the reason. He mentioned that he personally wanted Omega to be a part of it and speculated that Omega’s involvement in the Tag Team Championship storyline with Chris Jericho might be the reason for his absence. Danielson also acknowledged the importance of maintaining coherent storytelling in American TV wrestling and suggested that avoiding confusion could have played a role in Omega’s exclusion.
Despite Omega’s absence, Danielson praised the field of competitors in the Continental Classic. He expressed his love for the lineup, highlighting the presence of great, hard-hitting wrestlers. According to Danielson, the matches in the tournament have been exceptionally good so far.
