Breaking: WWE SmackDown Faces Unforeseen Interruption in Crucial Markets Once More

Good evening wrestling fans! This is Jeff Wolfe, your go-to source for all things professional wrestling. Today, I bring you some unfortunate news for fans of WWE SmackDown on FOX. Once again, the show will be preempted in several key markets due to NFL Pre-season coverage on the network.

This Friday, FOX has two NFL games scheduled – the Carolina Panthers at the NY Giants and the Cincinnati Bengals at the Atlanta Falcons. However, according to 506Sports, the following markets will be affected during SmackDown tomorrow night:

* Atlanta, GA
* Binghamton, NY
* Birmingham, AL
* Burlington, VT
* Charlotte, NC
* Columbia, SC
* Lima, OH
* Louisville, KY
* Myrtle Beach, SC
* Wilmington, NC

This is not the first time SmackDown has been preempted due to NFL Pre-season coverage. Last week’s post-SummerSlam edition of SmackDown on FOX was also affected in several key markets. This had a significant impact on viewership and the key demo rating. You can find the detailed ratings report here. It’s worth noting that in all preempted markets, last week’s SmackDown aired either on a delay or on an affiliated broadcast network, and all preempted airings were counted by Nielsen in the final numbers released. The following markets were affected last week: Atlanta, GA; Baltimore, MD; St. Louis, MO; El Paso, TX; Duluth, MN; Honolulu, HI; Louisville, KY; Richmond, VA; Toledo, OH; Wilkes Barre & Scranton, PA; Binghamton, NY; Peoria, IL; Gainesville, FL; Ft. Wayne, IN; Erie, PA; Lansing, MI; Johnstown, PA; Wheeling, WV.

Despite the preemptions, this Friday’s SmackDown promises to be an exciting episode. It will be live from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto and will feature the 25th Anniversary Celebration for WWE Hall of Famer Edge. The highlight of the night will be the first-ever match between Edge and Sheamus. Additionally, the Grayson Waller Effect has been announced, with 2023 WWE Hall of Famer and new WWE United States Champion Rey Mysterio as the guest.
