According to a report from Fightful Select, Jax has actually been signed to a WWE contract for over a month now. This surprising revelation caught many within WWE off guard, as her return was not expected until tonight. Speculation about Jax’s comeback first surfaced on August 8, thanks to PWInsider. The post-RAW update from tonight’s show also confirms that Jax has officially signed a WWE deal, likely around the time her return was being discussed in early August.
It’s important to note that Jax’s return on tonight’s RAW, the final show under full McMahon Family control, is unrelated to the Endeavor acquisition closing tomorrow for the WWE – UFC merger, as reported by Fightful. This suggests that Jax’s return is purely coincidental and not part of any larger business strategy.
Jax’s wrestling career has been a rollercoaster ride. She signed with WWE in early 2014 and initially worked in WWE NXT. In July 2016, she was called up to the main roster and became a one-time RAW Women’s Champion and a two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. Unfortunately, Jax was released on November 4, 2021, as part of budget cuts. Later, she revealed that she was let go during a mental health break. Since leaving WWE, Jax has made appearances at conventions but has not worked for any other wrestling promotion. Her only match since her release was in the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble, where she made a surprise appearance as the 30th entrant. It took 11 other women to eliminate her, proving just how dominant she can be.
