AEW World Tag Team Champion Cash Wheeler of FTR has been arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm, according to court records. Wheeler was booked in Circuit Court and is currently being held by Florida’s Orange County Department of Corrections in Orlando, FL.
The arrest warrant was issued on July 28, and Wheeler pleaded not guilty to the charge on August 3. This suggests that the incident leading to his arrest occurred in July. Wheeler is facing a third degree felony count of aggravated assault with a firearm, which carries a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
AEW released a statement to The Sentinel, stating that they are aware of the charge and are closely monitoring the situation. Wheeler is said to be fully cooperating with local authorities.
FTR is scheduled to defend the AEW World Tag Team Titles against The Young Bucks at All In on Sunday, August 27 in London. It remains to be seen how Wheeler’s arrest will impact this match and the future of the championship.
