AEW Terminates Contract with CM Punk

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has announced the termination of wrestler Phillip Brooks, better known as CM Punk. The decision was made by AEW CEO and General Manager, Tony Khan, following a weeklong internal investigation into an incident that occurred backstage at AEW – All In London on August 27.

The AEW Discipline Committee conducted the investigation and later consulted with external legal counsel before unanimously recommending the termination of CM Punk’s contract with cause.

In a statement, Tony Khan expressed his gratitude for CM Punk’s contributions to AEW, but emphasized that the decision to terminate his contracts was made in the best interests of the company and its stakeholders.

“Phil played an important role within AEW and I thank him for his contributions. The termination of his AEW contracts with cause is ultimately my decision, and mine alone. Of course, I wish I didn’t have to share this news, which may come as a disappointment to many of our fans. Nevertheless, I am making the decision in the best interests of the many amazing people who make AEW possible every week – our talent, staff, venue operators, and many others whose efforts are unsung but essential to bringing our fans great shows on television and at arenas and stadiums throughout the world,” said Tony Khan.
