Booker T Reveals How He Adapted Commentary Style to Raw and SmackDown

Former WWE commentator and Hall of Famer, Booker T, recently opened up about his experience calling the action on Raw and SmackDown compared to his work at his own promotion, Reality of Wrestling. In an interview with Chris Van Vilet, Booker T discussed how he had to be more politically correct while commentating for WWE.

Booker T revealed, “When I was on Raw, when I was on SmackDown, everything had to be politically correct. Of course, I had something [or someone] in my ear. Sometimes you couldn’t be yourself.” He went on to explain that he feels more comfortable being his true authentic self while calling the action in NXT.

According to Booker T, calling the action in NXT is a little easier because he can be serious when needed, but also have fun and show his personality. He stated, “With NXT, I can go out there and be serious, but then I can talk about how to [become] hotter than Scotty, shucky ducky quack quack. It’s just all about having balance and trying to think about one thing first and foremost, and that’s the young guys, the talent, trying to put a spotlight on those guys and hopefully give them the rub.”

Booker T’s comments shed light on the differences between commentating in WWE and NXT. While WWE’s strict guidelines and political correctness may limit the commentators’ ability to fully express themselves, NXT provides a more relaxed environment where the commentators can showcase their personalities and connect with the audience on a deeper level.

This interview with Booker T comes as no surprise, as many fans have noticed the stark contrast in commentary styles between WWE and NXT. NXT’s commentary team, including Booker T, often brings a more lighthearted and entertaining approach to their calls, which resonates well with the audience.

Booker T’s experience as a commentator in WWE and NXT highlights the importance of finding the right balance between professionalism and entertainment in the world of professional wrestling. While being politically correct is necessary in certain situations, allowing commentators to showcase their personalities and have fun can greatly enhance the viewing experience for fans.

In addition to his comments on commentary, Booker T recently discussed the Main Event Mafia from TNA and how the group would have never formed in WWE. To read more about his thoughts on this topic, you can visit Wrestling Headlines.
