AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita Reaches Out to Michael Nakazawa in 2020: The Surprising Connection Revealed!

In a recent column on the DDT Pro Wrestling website, Michael Nakazawa shared the story of Konosuke Takeshita reaching out to him in 2020 for a chance to work in AEW. Nakazawa, a member of the Elite, discussed Takeshita’s rise in AEW and how he sought a turning point in his career.

Takeshita, who was previously out of the title picture in DDT Pro, was looking for a change of scenery as he felt his career had come to a standstill. In April 2020, it was announced that Takeshita would be absent from DDT, not due to injury, but to participate in AEW. Despite still fighting at the top level, Takeshita had experienced a series of losses and seemed to be at a standstill.

According to Nakazawa, Takeshita reached out to him directly, expressing his desire to participate in AEW. However, Nakazawa clarified that he had no authority in talent recruitment and had to relay Takeshita’s message to Kenny Omega.

“He contacted me directly, not through any organization, and said, ‘I want to participate in AEW.’ Was he asking for a turning point for himself? Of course, the truth was that I did not have the power to do so, so he wanted me to tell Kenny about it,” Nakazawa revealed.

Since then, Takeshita has become one of the hottest acts in AEW. He is set to compete against The Elite in the upcoming AEW Blood & Guts match, where he will team up with the Blackpool Combat Club. Nakazawa’s full column can be found here.
