Cash Wheeler Involved In Road Rage Incident That Led to Arrest

Professional wrestler Cash Wheeler, one half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR, was arrested this morning by the Orlando Police Department. He has been charged with one count of third-degree felony aggravated assault with a firearm. Wheeler was booked in Circuit Court and is currently being held by Florida’s Orange County Department of Corrections in Orlando, FL.

The incident in question occurred on Thursday, July 27, and is believed to be a road rage incident. According to the prosecutor, Wheeler allegedly flashed a gun at the victims. However, Wheeler’s lawyer, Brice Aikens, stated that his client does not know the victims.

Wheeler turned himself in on the warrant and was booked into the Orange County Jail at midnight. He was given a bond of $2,500 at an arraignment earlier today. It is unclear at this time if he has bonded out or not.

As part of the bond stipulations, Wheeler has been ordered to have no direct or indirect contact with the victim or witnesses. He is also prohibited from possessing any weapon, firearm, or ammunition. Within 12 hours of his release from jail, Wheeler must turn over any weapons he owns to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, who will hold them until the case has been finalized.

Notably, Wheeler was not given any travel restrictions and was not ordered to surrender his passport. This raises questions about his ability to travel to England for the upcoming AEW event, All In, where FTR is scheduled to defend the AEW World Tag Team Titles against The Young Bucks on Sunday, August 27 in London. As Wheeler has not been convicted of a crime, he should be able to travel unless AEW changes their plans.

The arrest came as a surprise to many within AEW, as talents were reportedly unaware of the situation until the news broke today.

AEW issued a statement to The Sentinel, stating, “AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. (Wheeler) is fully cooperating with local authorities.”

If convicted, Wheeler could face up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
