Lawlor survives Filthy Rules Fight ?NJoA?

Tom Lawlor outlasts Homicide

On February 18, Battle in the Valley saw the first NJPW Filthy Rules Fight, Tom Lawlor and Homicide doing battle with no ropes, and no disqualifications.

Order the replay now!

Taking the no ropes environment to be playing into his MMA background, Tom Lawlor came to the ring with a judo gi, before putting gloves on for the bout, only to be rocked by a Homicide lariat as the bell rang. Going quickly to plan B, Lawlor would throw the Notorious 187 to the floor, and delivered trash can shots before looking for a running punt to Homicide only to be met with a steel chair to the face.

Now with the advantage, Homicide sent Lawlor crashing into the ring post, before pulling a ladder out from under the ring, which was joined by his traditional choice of cutlery. Before Homicide could use the weapon, he would be caught with a leg lock from Lawlor; the veteran brawler would stab his way free through the boot of the Filthy One but was sent into the ringpost from Lawlor.

After brass knux to the face of Homicide, Lawlor went for a Superman Punch with the brass but only found the ringpost, blood streaming from the UFC alum’s hand, as Homicide somehow found a door under the ring. As a desperation uranage slam onto a trashcan cut off Homicide, Lawlor wanted to send Homicide through his own door; as both fought over what would surely be a fight finisher, a barrage of suplexes from both parties ensued, but it would be Homicide with a terrifying Death Valley Bomb from the apron that sent Lawlor crashing through the door.

Victory in reach, Homicide wanted a Cop Killa to finish Lawlor, but was met with a back body drop onto a ladder followed by a PK for two. Lawlor set a chair across the head of Homicide and drove a headbutt from the top of a ladder to Homicide, but only got two; the NKOTB and a rear naked choke would finish the match as Homicide slipped into unconsciousness.
