Next week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown is already shaping up to be a big one. During this week’s annual Tribute To The Troops special themed episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown on FOX from the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, RI., two first-round matches took place in the U.S. Title Contender Tournament.
In the first round of the tournament, Santos Escobar emerged victorious over Dragon Lee, while Bobby Lashley defeated Karrion Kross. Both Escobar and Lashley have now advanced to the semifinals, where they will face off against each other.
On the other side of the bracket, Kevin Owens will be stepping into the ring next Friday night in Green Bay, WI. despite his injured hand. He will be facing Austin Theory in another first-round tournament bout. Owens’ determination to compete despite his injury adds an extra layer of excitement to the match.
In addition to these matches, WWE has also confirmed that Grayson Waller will be going one-on-one against a mystery NXT Superstar in the fourth and final first-round tourney match. The anticipation of finding out who Waller’s opponent will be adds an element of surprise to the event.
But that’s not all. The blue brand WWE on FOX program will also see the television return of WWE Universal Champion, “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns. Reigns’ return is highly anticipated by fans, and his presence is sure to make a significant impact on the show.
