53-Year-Old WWE Legend Wrestles Emotional Retirement Match

Former WWE Tag Team Champion Doug Basham has announced his retirement from professional wrestling after losing his retirement match to Kal Herro at Great Lakes Championship Wrestling’s Blizzard Brawl event in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The 52-year-old wrestler had returned to the ring in August 2022 after a hiatus of nearly thirteen years.

Doug Basham is best known for his time in WWE, where he formed a successful tag team with Danny Basham. The Basham Brothers captured the WWE Tag Team Championship twice during their tenure with the company. Prior to his WWE run, Basham was a top star in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), which served as WWE’s developmental program at the time.

Despite his success in WWE and OVW, Doug Basham’s career never reached the same heights after his departure from the company. However, he still had a significant impact on the wrestling industry and will be remembered for his contributions.

It’s always bittersweet to see a wrestler announce their retirement, especially when they haven’t been active for a long time. While Doug Basham’s career might not have gone as far as some fans would have hoped, it’s important to respect his decision to step away from the ring.
