The Undertaker Reveals Vince McMahon’s Furious Reaction to a Past Incident

WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker recently opened up about a tense situation with Vince McMahon during his time as WWE Champion. In an episode of the podcast Six Feet Under, The Undertaker revealed how he was informed that he would be losing the WWE Championship to Steve Austin just 36 days after winning it from him at WWE Over The Edge 1999.

The Undertaker recalled the moment when Vince McMahon gathered him, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, and Kane in a room and expressed his frustration. McMahon stated, “Something is not working. We have to change some things. Steve, you’re going over Taker tonight. We’re switching the title back on TV.”

The Undertaker couldn’t remember if the title change happened on live TV or a pay-per-view event, but he did remember putting Steve Austin over and relinquishing the title. He also mentioned that the other champions at the time, such as the Intercontinental Champion and the US Champion, didn’t have any changes to their status.

According to The Undertaker, McMahon had a preference for a babyface champion, which he believed was the reason for the sudden title change. The Undertaker expressed his disappointment, saying, “These are guys that I respect the absolute most and now we’re in a room together and it’s basically all falling on me.”

He also mentioned that Triple H approached him after the meeting and told him, “You didn’t deserve that.” The Undertaker responded, “You know what, I don’t think I did deserve that.”

This revelation from The Undertaker sheds light on the behind-the-scenes dynamics of WWE and the pressure that wrestlers face to perform and meet the expectations of management. It also showcases the strong camaraderie and support among the wrestlers, as Triple H expressed his sympathy for The Undertaker.
